Development of DT&HM Level 2 and 3 achievement standards and resources

On 6 December, the Ministry of Education will be publishing the achievement standards and support resources that teachers need to deliver the new Digital Technologies and Hangarau Matihiko curriculum at NCEA Levels 2 and 3.

We will also be adding to the supports for Level 1 by publishing 8 exemplar “grab-and-go” teaching and learning programmes, complete with full student and teacher resources, as well as te reo adaptations of the Level 1 standards and resources, and a te reo Māori adaptation of one of the DT&HM Online for NCEA modules.

The full package that will be published on 6 December includes:

For Digital Technologies and Hangarau Matihiko at NCEA Level 1:

  • Exemplar Teaching & Learning programmes with resources
  • Te reo Māori adaptations of the English-medium Level 1 DT&HM standards and assessment resources
  • A te reo Māori adaption of the online learning module for the DT&HM Level 1 standard Demonstrate understanding of human computer interaction

For Digital Technologies and Hangarau Matihiko at NCEA Levels 2 and 3:

  • Ten achievement standards for each level
  • Two assessment resources for each standard
  • Assessment specifications and administrative guidelines for externally assessed standards
  • An updated teaching and learning guide covering all NCEA levels
  • Updated conditions of assessment

From 6 December, the full package will be available from:

You can view the updated matrix here.

Information about the Hangarau Matihiko standards and supports will be available shortly.

This represents a major milestone in the development of these standards and resources, which would not have been possible without the mahi of the writers, guidance of DTTA executive committee and the commitment of every DT&HM teacher who has embraced the new standards and informed their development. On behalf of the Ministry, thank you.
