Psychology
Assessment resources to support internally assessed Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 registered achievement standards for psychology aligned with The New Zealand Curriculum (2007).
The Ministry of Education has developed the Psychology achievement standards for Social Sciences Learning Area in The New Zealand Curriculum. This includes levels 1–3 achievement standards, assessment resources, and updates to the Teaching and Learning Guide.
Psychology has been taught in New Zealand schools in some form since 1986 and is part of the Social Sciences learning area in The New Zealand Curriculum. It has identified key concepts and learning outcomes that align with Social Sciences. Psychology builds capabilities for living and lifelong learning and has strong links to the key competencies in The New Zealand Curriculum. The Ministry of Education has worked in partnership with the New Zealand Association of Psychology Teachers (NZAPT) to support this development.
